Law Center Renovation
Completion: August – 2016
Renovation work – 1st & 2nd Floors
The renovation project of the existing facility will include 113,000 GSF.
The addition will be approximately 20,000 GSF and will feature college of law offices, clinical spaces, classrooms, courtroom and event space.
Site Location: The addition will be constructed on the East side of the Law School toward the Football Stadium. The existing courtyard on the south-side of the facility will be filled in with an event space.
The WVU Law Center project includes renovation of existing building and addition of approximately 22,000 square feet. The renovation would be in the main building which houses staff offices and law library. The addition would provide multiuse space along with additional seminar space.
The arrival experience to the College of Law is highlighted by a seasonal planting area and grand entrance colonnade. The entry connects to and extends the lobby which becomes the main gathering space or social ‘esplanade’. Entrances into key spaces are placed along the esplanade making it easy for visitors to find their destination. A state-of-the art classroom wing stretches along the east side of the building capturing dramatic views toward the stadium. A large roof garden is placed on the north end of the addition creating a pleasant outdoor gathering space. A grand stair connects the second and first floors and provides views to the woods beyond. A ramp and stair encompass a circular floor opening to create a dynamic Rotunda directly above the main building entrance. Twenty-four faculty offices extend along the length of the wing taking advantage of spectacular views to the stadium and surrounding West Virginia Mountains. The new Clinic space doubles the size of the facility and provides flexibility for arranging the various Clinics and their support needs. A separate entrance placed on the north end of the space provides easy access to dedicated parking and helps maintain the desired level of confidentiality for clients.
